Check-in day, step by step.
Camper drop-off runs from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Camp Virgil Tate. Here's the order to do things so you and your horse get settled without backtracking.

From the gate to the welcome circle.
Each step builds on the last. Do them in order and the day flows.
Arrive at the barns
Pull up to the barn area. A staff member checks your Coggins (paper copy preferred) and assigns your horse a stall.
No unloading horses before 12:00 PM. The barns aren't ready and traffic is heavy.
Dining hall registration
Walk over to the dining hall. Complete camper registration, pay any balance, and pick up your camp packet (name tag, itinerary).
You'll get your cabin assignment here. Sign up for crafts while you're at it.
Unload at the cabins
Drive down to the cabins to unload your gear. The cabin road is a one-way loop, so just follow the signs.
Park the trailer
After unloading, move your truck and trailer to the designated drop-off lot. Use the trailer to store extra feed and hay for the week.
Free time
You're settled. Walk the property, get your bearings, hang out with your horse at the stall. No riding yet - that comes after the welcome meeting.
Welcome meeting
Meet at Council Circle for staff introductions and Q&A. This is where the week officially starts.
Parents are welcome to stay for the welcome meeting before heading home.
Rider evaluations
First-time campers and returning Beginner Class riders: tack up and ride for the counselors. This is how we decide which class block fits you best for the week.
Timing note: returning campers don't need to do this. New-camper evaluations may also continue at 6:00 PM Sunday - your packet will confirm your time slot.
